SUBCONTRACT COORDINATOR/BUYER (Amherst, NY)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creates purchase orders for toll manufacturers and material suppliers
  • Creates routings and structures from shop drawings
  • Manages and monitors materials going out to toll manufactures and coordinates any vendor issues with WBA materials.
  • Sends out drawings and manages the return of quotes from vendors
  • Runs subcontract production meetings with vendors
  • Receives completed purchase orders accounting for correct receipt and inventory record
  • Completing all tasks as delegated by the supervising authority.
  • Need to have a thorough understanding of company and its mission
  • Support and adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and regulations as described in the Environmental
  • Health and Safety Rules and Regulations Employee Handbook as well as WBA specific safety guidelines and procedures.

Basic qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Must have 2 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Must have 2 years of experience using ERP software

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 or 4-year degree highly preferred
  • Must be able to interpret shop drawings
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design experience preferred

ESTIMATOR, BRIDGE FABRICATED PRODUCTS (Amherst, NY)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review and analyze contract plans, specifications, and other documentation to accurately prepare cost estimates and quotations on bridge projects.
  • Calculation of materials, engineering time, shop labor, subcontract scope if required, and shipping and handling to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Develop estimates and create quotation for presentation to regional sales managers for internal review and market pricing.
  • Assess commercial risk, and develop voluntary alternates as requested or discovered. 
  • Outline key features and benefits for presentation to internal Sales staff and external customers.
  • Track quotations on an on-going basis to provide internal Sales staff with analytical data on market pricing.
  • Communicate with internal procurement staff, or directly with vendors, to obtain accurate subcontracted material and labor pricing with lead times.
  • Work directly with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to understand internal capabilities as applied to project specific offerings.
  • Complete all work in conformance with Company and Department ISO 9001 policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Candidate must be able to assess commercial risk, and demonstrate comprehension of design and specification criteria in a low bid environment. 
  • Communication skill in coordinating estimates with Regional Sales Managers and developing partnerships on project-specific opportunities with potential customers a must.
  • Must understand steel manufacturing, machining, and fabrication processes.

Basic qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Three (3) years of experience Estimating within the Miscellaneous Metals/ Structural Steel fabrication environment
  • Three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Excel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Any experience using SAP to create estimates and quotations preferred
  • Two (2) year of experience working with welding specifications to AWS standards preferred

WELDER FITTER/FABRICATOR - NIGHT SHIFT (Amherst, NY)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Night Shift Position  5:30 PM to 4 AM
  • Responsible for safe operation and care/maintenance of equipment
  • Tack and weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum in accordance with welding codes and specifications
  • Lay out, fit, tack and weld component members for system assemblies
  • Lay out stud and hole locations
  • Fit, tack and weld sub-assemblies such as splices, stainless steel sheet, plates, bars, rings and shipping devices
  • Continuous welding of lengths using semi-automatic high deposition welding process
  • Heat straighten bent, twisted or warped members to drawing or general tolerances
  • Set-up and operate portable radiograph burning machine and hand burning torches
  • Operate all fabrication equipment: saws, stud welders, ironworkers, benders, drill presses, punches, shot blaster and a variety of portable of hand tools
  • Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, tow motors and other material handling equipment
  • Perform a variety of welding and fabricating operations on various fabricated assemblies

Basic qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience reading and interpreting shop drawings
  • AWS Certification is required
  • 2 years of experience in welding
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

CNC MACHINIST - 2 OPENINGS, 1 DAY SHIFT, 1 NIGHT SHIFT (Amherst, NY)

Description:

Shifts consist of 4 – 10-hour shifts per week.  Construct and provide precision parts, models, fabrications and patterns from raw stock materials for the expansion control systems that we provide our customers.  Works from 3D CAD models, drawings.  Able to program, set-up and operate 3-axis CNC Machining centers and Manual Machining Equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • 80% - CAM Programming / Model Making / Machine Operation
  • 10% - Fixture Design / Support
  • 10% CAD and solid modeling
  • CAM Programming from 3D Solid CAD Model.
  • Regular reliable attendance and courteous treatment, communication and interaction in all working relationships, internal and external.

Basic qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED
  • 2 years of CNC machine set-up and CAM programming experience.
  • 1 year of experience with MS Office (Word and Excel).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-year degree or Technical Degree in machining, manufacturing, or mold machining preferred.

Description:

This is a day shift position, shifts which consist of 4 – 10-hour shifts per week.  Construct and provide precision parts, models, fabrications and patterns from raw stock materials for the expansion control systems that we provide our customers.  Works from 3D CAD models, drawings.  Able to program, set-up and operate 3-axis CNC Machining centers and Manual Machining Equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for safe operation of equipment in his charge and in the care and maintenance of shop equipment in general
  • Set-up and operate planner mill, cutting indexing, saws, ironworkers, benders, punches, stud welders, drill presses, press brake machine vulcanizing equipment, shot blaster, portable hand tools, milling machines, burning machines and torches
  • Draw templates and develop cut sizes for formed parts
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Assemble or install miscellaneous components, hardware and rubber products on all systems
  • Paint systems as required
  • Operate tow motor, swing cranes, overhead cranes and other material handling equipment

Basic qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED
  • 2 years of experience reading and interpreting shop drawings.
  • 2 years of metal fabrication machine operation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-year degree or Technical Degree in machining, manufacturing, or mold machining preferred.
