REGIONAL SALES MANAGER, ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS, NORTHEAST US TERRITORY (Amherst, NY)

Description:

This position is the leader of a selling Team comprised of Territory Representatives and Specialists. This leader is accountable for achieving the Regional sales and profitability goals. This role provides direction and leadership to the field Regional Staff while responsible for the customer satisfaction and market share within the Regional geography. This position performs all necessary sales and marketing activities for targeted segments involving targeted product growth in such a manner as to facilitate project-oriented, specified sales. The scope of this position is regional / multi-regional with a special focus on architectural applications and the goal is to deliver both top-and bottom-line sales and strategically grow this business section.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Educate and enhance the WBA value proposition as well as BASF as a total solutions provider.
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis of the territory and develop a sales territory strategy and operating plan annually, outlining a sales and marketing strategy designed to promote expansion control product growth.
  • Identify and research prospective customers in the architectural, engineering, contracting and installation communities through networking, online research, business directories, industry associations, trade shows and observation. Develop and implement plans for introduction to and relationship development with these potential customers.
  • Assist Marketing by providing voice of customer and competitive market information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and presence with design professional to maximize specifications penetration – basis for design.
  • Continuously develop architectural, engineering, contractor and installer networks and relationships establishing primary supply position with each.
  • Work in conjunction with Architectural Specialist to ensure focus on this segment and attainment of Arch Sales Objective.
  • Monitor and evaluate the competition's product lines and suggest new products
  • Support and adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and regulations as described in the Environmental Health and Safety Rules and Regulations Employee Handbook as well as WBA specific safety guidelines and procedures. Make “safety” a way of life and always a part of your individual actions.
  • Complete all work in conformance with Company and Department ISO 9001-2000 and 14001 policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong problem solving skills and project management skills focused on multi-level follow-up are critical.
  • Bachelor of Arts / Science is preferred in sales, marketing, business, architecture, construction technology, mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Have technical education / preparation and a minimum seven years of related sales / business development / installation experience.
  • Selling and marketing of industrial or construction products (3 to 5 years experience).
  • Skillful in Microsoft, Lotus and other software packages.
  • Two years of inside or outside specialty construction materials sales and / or experience with the architectural and specifying community with a proven track record.

SALES ENGINEER - INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TEAM (Amherst, NY)

Description:

This position will be located in our Amherst Office and will lead our Innovative Solutions Team (IST) in sales and technical responsibility by providing our customers with Innovative and Customized Solutions to satisfy their needs. As structures become more complex to address changes to codes, specifier requirements, and Owner in-use flexibility, the need for custom products that meet these requirements is essential. This position will focus on creating custom engineered structural expansion joint solutions based on the most challenging requirements presented by Architects, Engineering Consulting firms, and Owners.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • This position will be a key position within the IST, working closely with internal resources, other divisions of BASF and customers, to drive growth in WBA’s large project sales with an initial expected sales increase of $3 million in the first 18 months.  Initiate and maintain point of contact responsibility with external customers to facilitate project activity, successful achievement of milestones, and delivery of products and services to customer satisfaction.
  • Acting as point of contact to external customers on assigned projects for all technical matters including developing and validating a project-specific solution using customer supplied design criteria, and presenting each solution to the customer through web-based meetings, written descriptive narrative proposals, and face-to-face meetings. Works with all relative departments to establish work in progress look-ahead schedule that includes, but is not limited to, engineering shop drawing time, anticipated authority review and approval time, procurement lead time, and general fabrication duration to meet customer requirements.
  • Work within general methods and procedures and exercise considerable independent judgment to adapt and apply the guidelines to specific situations. Extensive and effective communication with internal cross functional teams, including Estimating to develop solution costing, Engineering to assist as needed in validating designs, Marketing to develop professional presentations, and Sales to properly coordinate WBA offering.  The work requires knowledge of policies, procedures, use of software, personnel policies, and general procedures.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum four (4) year Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated increase in responsibility in their career, with minimum two (2) years of experience in a consultancy or construction related firm.
  • Candidates must have experience with reading and writing technical documents including the ability to read and interpret drawings and project specification sheets.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills in both written and verbal communication.
  • Candidates must have the ability to communicate technical information with both customers and vendors.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office on a Windows 8 or 10 platform, Internet search engines, experience with SAP is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of design software, including but not limited to AutoCad Design suite, Solidworks and finite element analysis software considered a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time.

ESTIMATOR, BRIDGE FABRICATED PRODUCTS (Amherst, NY)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review and analyze contract plans, specifications, and other documentation to accurately prepare cost estimates and quotations on bridge projects.
  • Calculation of materials, engineering time, shop labor, subcontract scope if required, and shipping and handling to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Develop estimates and create quotation for presentation to regional sales managers for internal review and market pricing.
  • Assess commercial risk, and develop voluntary alternates as requested or discovered. 
  • Outline key features and benefits for presentation to internal Sales staff and external customers.
  • Track quotations on an on-going basis to provide internal Sales staff with analytical data on market pricing.
  • Communicate with internal procurement staff, or directly with vendors, to obtain accurate subcontracted material and labor pricing with lead times.
  • Work directly with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to understand internal capabilities as applied to project specific offerings.
  • Complete all work in conformance with Company and Department ISO 9001 policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Candidate must be able to assess commercial risk, and demonstrate comprehension of design and specification criteria in a low bid environment. 
  • Communication skill in coordinating estimates with Regional Sales Managers and developing partnerships on project-specific opportunities with potential customers a must.
  • Must understand steel manufacturing, machining, and fabrication processes.

Basic qualifications:

  • Associates of Applied Science Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Three (3) years of experience Estimating within the Miscellaneous Metals/ Structural Steel fabrication environment
  • Three (3) years of experience using Microsoft Excel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Any experience using SAP to create estimates and quotations preferred
  • Two (2) year of experience working with welding specifications to AWS standards preferred

WELDER FITTER/FABRICATOR - NIGHT SHIFT (Amherst, NY)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Night Shift Position  5:30 PM to 4 AM
  • Responsible for safe operation and care/maintenance of equipment
  • Tack and weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum in accordance with welding codes and specifications
  • Lay out, fit, tack and weld component members for system assemblies
  • Lay out stud and hole locations
  • Fit, tack and weld sub-assemblies such as splices, stainless steel sheet, plates, bars, rings and shipping devices
  • Continuous welding of lengths using semi-automatic high deposition welding process
  • Heat straighten bent, twisted or warped members to drawing or general tolerances
  • Set-up and operate portable radiograph burning machine and hand burning torches
  • Operate all fabrication equipment: saws, stud welders, ironworkers, benders, drill presses, punches, shot blaster and a variety of portable of hand tools
  • Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, tow motors and other material handling equipment
  • Perform a variety of welding and fabricating operations on various fabricated assemblies

Basic qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience reading and interpreting shop drawings
  • AWS Certification is required
  • 2 years of experience in welding
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

Shifts consist of 4 – 10-hour shifts per week.  Construct and provide precision parts, models, fabrications and patterns from raw stock materials for the expansion control systems that we provide our customers.  Works from 3D CAD models, drawings.  Able to program, set-up and operate 3-axis CNC Machining centers and Manual Machining Equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • 80% - CAM Programming / Model Making / Machine Operation
  • 10% - Fixture Design / Support
  • 10% CAD and solid modeling
  • CAM Programming from 3D Solid CAD Model.

Basic qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED
  • 2 years of CNC machine set-up and CAM programming experience.

  • Responsible for safe operation of equipment in his charge and in the care and maintenance of shop equipment in general
  • Set-up and operate planner mill, cutting indexing, saws, ironworkers, benders, punches, stud welders, drill presses, press brake machine vulcanizing equipment, shot blaster, portable hand tools, milling machines, burning machines and torches
  • Draw templates and develop cut sizes for formed parts
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Assemble or install miscellaneous components, hardware and rubber products on all systems
  • Paint systems as required
  • Operate tow motor, swing cranes, overhead cranes and other material handling equipment

Basic qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED
  • 2 years of experience reading and interpreting shop drawings.
  • 2 years of metal fabrication machine operation.

Preferred qualifications:
